A 90+ Lighthouse score is not just bragging rights — it is a measurable ranking signal and a measurable conversion-rate signal. Here is the exact checklist we use on every MAKEiNDIA TECH build.

What Core Web Vitals are

LCP (Largest Contentful Paint) — how fast the biggest visible element appears. Target under 2.5s. INP (Interaction to Next Paint) — how fast the page responds to a tap. Target under 200ms. CLS (Cumulative Layout Shift) — how much the page jumps around. Target under 0.1.

Why they matter for Google rankings

Since 2021 Core Web Vitals have been an official ranking factor. In 2026, with everyone optimising, a poor score is an active demotion — not a neutral default.

Image compression — WebP and lazy loading

Convert every image to WebP or AVIF, serve at the size actually displayed (don't ship a 4000px hero for a 1200px container), and add loading="lazy" + decoding="async" to everything below the fold. This single change usually adds 10–20 Lighthouse points.

Render-blocking scripts — defer and async

Every <script> in <head> without defer or async blocks the page. Move analytics, chat widgets, ad scripts to defer. Inline the critical CSS that styles the above-the-fold area; load the rest async.

Font optimization

Use system fonts where possible. If you must use a web font, self-host it, preload the one weight you need, and add font-display: swap so text shows immediately.

CLS fixes — reserve space for images

Always set width and height attributes on images and iframes. Reserve space for ads and embeds. Don't inject content above existing content after page load.
